Benefit Limitations Summary




Overseas Medical & Dental Expenses
  • ACE may fly You home if medical expenses are greater than the cost of a return airfare (subject to medical advice).
  • If You are admitted to hospital or You anticipate Your medical expenses and additional expenses are likely to exceed NZD2,000, You must advise ACE Assistance as soon as practically possible.
  • Upon Your return to New Zealand, We will pay up to NZD1,500 for continuing registered medical, surgical and hospital treatment only provided You seek this treatment in a public hospital where available.
  • In the event of a personal injury, You must register with ACC (Accident Rehabilitation and Compensation Insurance Corporate) on Your return to New Zealand. You may be able to recover part or all of Your claim from ACC.
Additional Expenses
  • Funeral or returning Your body home – limit NZD15,000
  • ACE will deduct the cost of an economy one-way ticket if ACE return You home and You do not hold a return ticket.
Continuation of Travel
  • No greater than 50% of the Period of Insurance had elapsed at the time of the onset of the sudden Disabling Injury, Sickness or Disease or death of a Relative or business partner.
  • You cannot claim due to the same Event under Section 5 Cancellation Charges of this Policy.
Missed Connection
  • Only applies for certain special events eg: wedding or funeral.
Cancellation Charges
  • NZD500 maximum for travel agent’s cancellation fee.
Luggage and Travel Documents
  • Exclusions for certain items when in cars and other forms of transport.
  • General exclusions on all items in cars at certain times.
  • Exclusions for unaccompanied luggage.
Replacement of Money
  • Must be accidentally lost or stolen from Your person.
Credit Card Fraud
  • You must advise Your credit card issuer and the appropriate authorities as soon as reasonably possibly once You know Your card is missing.
Rental Vehicle Excess
  • You must take out comprehensive insurance offered by the rental company.
Travel Delay
  • You must claim from Your Transport Provider first and provide Us with written confirmation from the Transport Provider of the cause and period of the delay and the amount of compensation offered by them.
  • You must provide Us with receipts for the hotel accommodation expenses incurred.
Cash in Hospital
  • We will pay You NZD75 for each consecutive twenty-four (24) hour period You are confined to a hospital overseas, provided that the period of confinement exceeds forty-eight (48) consecutive hours, up to NZD2,000.
Public Transport Hijacking
  • If You are detained on public transport due to it being hijacked by person or persons using violence or threat of violence, We will pay You the daily amount of NZD1,000 for each consecutive twenty-four (24) hours You are forcibly detained by the hijackers up to NZD5,000.
Personal Liability
  • Does not cover liability for injury, loss or damage caused in connection with vehicles, aircraft or watercraft. Eg: car accidents are not covered.
Personal Accident
  • ACE will pay the amount shown in Your Policy Schedule upon Your Paraplegia, Quadriplegia or Permanent Loss with respect to any one (1) Event if You suffer an Accidental Injury, as a result of personal accident, in-flight Accidental Injury or Terrorism.
  • Upon the Paraplegia, Quadriplegia or Permanent Loss of a Dependent Child the maximum amount payable is NZD10,000.
Loss of Income
  • You must be aged between fifty (50) and sixty-four (64) years when You suffer the Accidental Injury.
